In December 2016, I launched a new video series for the Voice of America. The premise was to give a daily overview of some of Asia’s biggest stories, but to do it in a way that would attack attention and not take a lot of time.
Thus, Asia in a Minute was born. An overview of the day’s three main stories in just 60 seconds (62 if you include the title cards).
The program originally started out on the English division’s page, but then was picked up by the VOA Khmer Service, since they have a large English following. Likewise, the Tibetan Service and Lao Service also run the program in English.
But what if you don’t speak English? Well, we have that covered too. How about Burmese?
Or how about Vietnamese?
Currently, Asia in a Minute is distributed to six services and versioned in three languages and is one of the most popular news updates in the organization.
New episodes are released Monday through Friday on the services’ Facebook page and/or their main news site.
